Apollo 15 Astronaut Al Worden Lecture

October 23, 2017 @ 5:55 pm - 7:30 pm

Apollo 15 Astronaut Al Worden

As one of only 24 humans who flew to the Moon, Astronaut Al Worden will recount his experience as the Apollo 15 command module pilot. He flew alongside Commander Dave Scott and lunar module pilot Jim Irwin on the first mission with the Lunar Roving Vehicle on July 1971. He performed the first deep space walk and still holds the record for the “most remote human being ever.”

Worden will also present Mines senior physics student Amanda Matheson with a $10,000 scholarship from the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.

The lecture is free and open to the public and will take place on Monday, October 23, at 6 p.m. in the Green Center’s Bunker Auditorium.
