Aaron Brown is a professor and program coordinator at Metropolitan State University of Denver in the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology. He has a Ph.D. in Civil Systems Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a certificate in Sustainable Community Development and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Brown’s work was recently featured on National Public Radio, in the Denver Post, on CBS Denver as the “Community Game Changer of the Month.” He is the recipient of the 2017 Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Award, was recognized by the US State Department in 2019 as a “Visionary Partner,” and was recently nominated for a Presidential Award recognizing efforts to encourage STEM participation, especially among underrepresented populations.

Dr. Brown has directed much of his work towards a focus in the areas of Appropriate Design, Humanitarian Engineering, Humanitarian Technology, Systems Design, Mechanical Design, and Sustainable Solutions.
