CMI Webinar: Exchange Spring Magnets: An Approach to Higher Energy Density Magnets

November 15 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free with registration

Presented by Dr. Scott K. McCall, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Exchange spring magnets are a nanocomposite of a high coercivity magnet strongly coupled to a softer high remanence magnet. This hybrid magnet benefits from the best properties of both component phases. This presentation will introduce the concept of an ESM and discuss progress towards its realization in bulk form.
Dr. McCall is the Magnet Thrust Lead for the Critical Materials Institute, Group Leader of the Actinides and Lanthanides Science Group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He leads the effort to develop exchange spring magnets with advanced manufacturing. He holds a PhD from Florida State University, has published 87 papers, holds 3 patents and is an R&D 100 2017 finalist.
The webinar is a listen-only event. The audience will have the opportunity to type questions for Dr. McCall.
