Please join Engineers Ireland and Morgan D. Bazilian present at the virtual National Conference titled Engineering Climate Action: Solutions to Combat Climate Change in Ireland on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 2:00am – 10:00am MT.
Engineers have a key role to play in the transition to a sustainable, carbon-free society; Sustainable Development Goal 9 for example, calls for the building of resilient infrastructure, promotion of inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and fostering innovation.
Our National Conference, entitled Engineering Climate Action: Solutions to combat climate change in Ireland, will be an exciting and important forum for us to engage with our member-engineers, business leaders, policy makers and others, to discuss climate action and the leadership role engineers have in addressing climate breakdown and in helping communities to transition to a more resilient society.
Our National Conference 2020 will now take place as a fully virtual event on Wednesday, 21 October having been rescheduled from Thursday, 23 April in light of COVID-19 restrictions.
For more information and speaker detail, find out more in our Conference Overview below.
Conference Overview
Almost three-quarters (74%) of the Irish public surveyed for our Engineering 2020 report said they believe that engineers have an ethical obligation to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss.
As part of our National Conference, each solutions-focused session including those on Innovation and Sustainable Practices and Climate Resilient Livable Communities will aim to mobilise, educate and empower engineers across all sectors to be drivers of climate action in their own business, network and communities.
