Hennebach Speaker Series: Surprise and Juxtaposition with Tony Mancus.

January 30 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

The poet Tony Macus will address how meaning and wonder can be embedded in writing by investigating the strangeness of things in combination that aren’t “meant to” go together. Different forms and images, different artistic mediums, stitched together swatches of conversation all can filter into a regular writing practice that’s driven by and filled with surprise. He’ll present a short video, some images, and read from Same After Life then the floor will open for discussion around the topic.

Bio: Tony Mancus is the author of two full length collections of poetry, Same After Life (Gasher, 2024) and All the Ordinariness (The Magnificent Field, 2022) along with a small pile of chapbooks. He ran a small handbound chapbook press for several years while living on the east coast. He currently works as a senior instructional designer creating training for foreign service personnel in the Department of State. He grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania and resides in Lakewood with his wife Dr. Shannon Mancus, their son, and two excellent kittens.
