With the long-delayed COP26 now just weeks away, a key question facing policymakers around the world is where to find the money to pay for the enhanced climate ambition called for by the Paris Agreement (and the most recent science). In this talk, Dr. Stephen Hammer, the World Bank’s chief strategist on global climate policy, will lay out where we are, where the challenges are, and what to look for in the runup to and at COP26.

Dr. Hammer is the World Bank’s lead strategist on global climate change policy.  He also leads the Bank’s engagement on climate change issues with the United Nations/G7/G20 and other development partners and plays a key role in driving the Bank’s current focus on “green” COVID recovery.  He previously served as the Bank’s Manager of Climate Policy, where his team had responsibility for shaping the WBG’s global perspective on climate change policy, mainstreaming climate change into Bank Group operations, and delivering specialized technical advisory services to clients.
