“Advancing Live Cell Microscopy with Microfluidics-Based Development of New Fluorescent Probes”

Abstract:  I will present our microfluidics-based directed evolution methods for developing and characterizing new fluorescent proteins and genetically-encoded biosensors for live cell imaging. This instrumentation integrates new optical measurement methods into microfluidic flow cytometry, enabling large cell-based libraries to be screened and clones of interest to be selected. I will present examples where this new technology is used to develop new fluorophores that will be broadly useful in live-cell imaging.
