This will be an in-person (Labriola 202) seminar and available via Zoom (https://mines.zoom.us/s/97076035397).
Abstract: I will discuss the motivation for running random circuit sampling algorithms (RCS) on current quantum computers and present some recent RCS results from Quantinuum. I will also briefly introduce the basics of trapped-ion quantum computing architectures and challenges and progress towards scaling system sizes to meet future applications.
Bio: Dr. John Gaebler is the chief scientist for commercial products at Quantinuum, an international quantum computing company with a location in Broomfield dedicated to the development of trapped-ion based quantum computers. Dr. Gaebler has a PhD in physics from University of Colorado at Boulder and was previously a post-doctoral researcher at NIST in Boulder focused on trapped-ion quantum computing.
