“Around the World in 81 Talks: A Retrospective on a Year of Lecturing”
Abstract: This talk is a few things: an overview of what a year-long lecture circuit looked like for me over this last calendar year, an apology for missing so many faculty meetings, and a short version of the two talks I gave 81 times total this last year as part of the National Groundwater Association’s Darcy Distinguished Lecture Series. The two talks seemed so different when I started–one on contaminant transport in groundwater, another on tree-water use–but it turns out that they had a really important similarity I figured out part of the way through the tour. As the culmination to a year gone, this lecture serves to share a few insights with my colleagues here at home on 1) recent research from my group and 2) life on the road.
