Critical Metals for the Future
Abstract: Modern society demands various kinds of metals in addition to traditional base and precious metals for the use of high-technology and/or green technology. Mining sectors are required to supply enough amounts of metals on time, but it is not always possible because of various reasons such as scarcity of the reserves, environmental issues, technological difficulties, profitability, time for the mine development, nationalism, etc. This presentation show some examples how economic geologists can contribute to the stable supply of critical metals to the industry, and emphasizes a new role of economic geologists in future.
