Hennebach Program Lecture: The International Rescue Committee at Mines

Description: The International Rescue Committee Deputy Director, Wisler Jacquecin, will visit the Mines campus to give a brief history of the IRC and that of the IRC in Denver. He will discuss resettlement process es(from the first interaction with UNHCR to PRM assurances and reception/placement in Denver) as well as the plethora of services that the IRC provides as well as the many challenges organizations like theirs face (housing, job placement etc.) and also to discuss and identify potential solutions and opportunities.

Wisler Jacquecin is the current Deputy Director for Programming at the International Rescue Committee in Denver and is a decorated veteran from the U.S. Army. He is a member of the American Political Science Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America. He served on the board of the Colorado Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families. He holds degrees in Political Science and Public Policy from Florida Atlantic University and the University of Colorado-Denver. He holds certificates in Leadership and Change Management and is also a Certified Project Manager and a Disciplined Agile Scrum Master. He is fluent in English, French, Haitian Creole, and speaks conversational Spanish. While with the IRC he was instrumental in advancing the state’s efforts to implement a whole family, multigenerational approach to services by adopting the two-generation model, and in strengthening client-centered services within the state and county human services agencies.
