Near world-wide COVID-19 lockdowns disrupted the global economy’s use of oil. As societies re-emerge, demand has partially recovered with it. Oil demand, however, may be permanently changed.

This change is not just about the outright level of global demand is also about how and what type of fuels society will need as they seek safety in an increasingly uncertain world. This talk will discuss what we know to date about the decline and partial return of oil demand, but also about the intra-barrel changes that are occurring as end user behaviors and capabilities adjust to COVID.

Jamie is a Senior Director at BCG’s Center for Energy Impact. He joined BCG in 2016 as an expert in energy markets and geopolitics. He is also a non-resident fellow at Columbia’s Center on Global Energy Policy and has 20 years experience analyzing energy markets across the fuels and across geographies. He resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Nancy who works on climate and sustainability issues.
